On the sunny Saturday of June 17th, we departed Saint Augustine, FL and headed to Charleston which marked the beginning of a two-night adventure at the JB Charleston RV Park, a military campground. While we were aware that the main park was fully occupied, we were pleased to find space available in the overflow lot. Given our short stay of just two nights, we were more than content with the accommodations provided in the overflow area This was our first experience of an overflow with hookups not bad... (see header photo above)
The overflow area is conveniently situated right at the campground entrance, just outside the Outdoor Rec office where you check in. This prime location offers easy access to essential amenities such as the bathrooms, tennis court, playground, basketball court, and covered picnic areas. Moreover, for those seeking a bit of adventure, there's even a rock wall to climb on inside the outdoor rec office.
Kids can run and play around the park's green spaces. Walking the the Bash Fitness Trail that runs along the golf course outside the campground was a great way to get our miles in.
If you're looking for a tranquil and adventurous vacation in the Charleston area, the Charleston AFB Military RV Park is an excellent choice. With its scenic location, top-notch facilities, outdoor recreational opportunities, and proximity to historical sites. If the park is filled go ahead and opt for the overflow.
We had a great time in Charleston, we enjoyed an awesome meal and great services at Nigels restaurant and enjoyed the Charleston Juneteenth Celebration.
We here happy that our cousin Troy and his fiance Aliesha were able to make a 2 hour drive to the base to spend Father's Day with us.
We will definitely return to this park and hope to get a spot in the campgrount but it if not the overlow is more than enough for us.
The Joint Base Charleston Family Campground is located on the Air Force base is open to retired Military members, 100% disabled veterans, DoD ID card holders and active duty military members not stationed at or working on Joint Base Charleston.
