Over the last 5 years (we started RVLife in 2020), we’ve learned that while RV life brings freedom, it also requires a solid mindset to stay stress-free and enjoy the journey.
So how do we keep our sanity rolling down endless highways, setting up camp in new places every few days, and navigating the unknown? Mindfulness. Meditation. Movement. And, of course, a whole lot of dancing, laughing and prayer.

One of the best things about RV life is waking up to new surroundings, but that can also throw off a routine. To keep our mornings intentional and grounded, we start with a few simple practices:
No matter how much we plan, the unexpected happens—weather delays, mechanical issues, or detours that test our patience. Here’s how we keep stress from taking over:
- Deep Breathing in the Moment: When frustration starts creeping in, we pause and remind each other to take a few deep breaths. It sounds simple, but it’s a game-changer.
- Laugh it Off: Some days, you just have to shake your head and laugh—like when we ended up on a dirt road Google Maps swore was a highway. This was by far a scary moment for us, We were in Talapoosa, GA when we made the turn we knew we were in trouble, it immediately turned to gravel and became a loopy upgrade with lots of bush. We made it out safely but that was a test that we laugh about today.
- Morning Gratitude: Before the day takes off, we give thanks for seeing another day. One of us hits the start button on the coffee, we take our vitamins and get our day started.
- Movement: The body needs movement even when our brain doesn't feel like it. We make movement part of our day. We walk daily in addition we either do a kettlebell workout or strength building routine. It's a habit that we have comitted to as we love this lifestyle and you need good health to live it.
- Nature is Our Stress Reliever: Instead of just “getting steps in,” we focus on the sights, sounds, and smells around us we talk about our feelings, laugh, create big plans, undo those plans with whole knew plans LOL. We often speak with God when we are nature, we let him know how thankful we are for our lives

We live an Unstructured Life but we have a routine
- Dedicated Work & Play Time: While lying in bed each evening we discuss the day and then determine what the following day will look like the conversation usually goes something like: You got any calls tomorrow or work to do? You have any appoinments? This determines if we set an alarm or not.
- Evening Routine We don't just set up our coffee, we place our vitamins on the counter and fill our water bottles, this makes for a great morning.
- Lean Into the Community: RVers are a friendly bunch— we don’t hesitate to chat with your campground neighbors and we have connected with other like minded RVers by joining online RV communities. We have made friends that are like family since being on the road and we are thankful for their friendships.
We found our flow on the road. RV life is all about freedom, but true freedom includes peace of mind. By incorporating mindfulness and simple stress-relief techniques into our nomadic journey, we can enjoy the open road with a light heart and a clear mind.
You just read how we work together to make life in a small area on the road work, even though we are complete opposites in terms of spontaneity and structure. Living the RVNomad Lifestyle requires patience, commitment, and sacrifice regardless of your personality.
