Imagine a Christmas where the sun kisses your skin, the beach is just a step away, and the aromas of an exotic culinary tradition fill the air. This isn't just any Christmas story; it's our delightful encounter with a Colombian Christmas tradition at Urban Grub Aruba.
Christmas is a time of joy, a time when traditions come alive and families gather to celebrate. This year, our festive season took an unexpected and delicious turn when we were invited to Urban Grub Aruba to experience a unique Colombian Christmas tradition.
As we stepped into Urban Grub, the atmosphere was electric with festive cheer. We stepped up to the take-out window, where the owner, a charismatic host with a passion for culinary exploration, greeted us with a warm smile. He had a special surprise in store for us, a chance to indulge in a traditional Colombian Christmas dish, Sancocho, which is a traditional soup in several Latin American cuisines.
Sancocho is more than just a soup; it's a culinary journey. Its rich and hearty flavors are a testament to Colombia's vibrant food culture. The soup's base is a flavorful chicken broth, simmered to perfection. There are different types of potatoes added, each with its own unique texture and taste.
Corn and avocado provide a burst of fresh, tangy goodness. The result? A meal that put smiles on our faces and warms our souls while allowing us to enjoy a piece of Colombian Christmas tradition in Aruba.
We were served a side of rice to add to the soup, which added to the heartiness of the meal.
Sancocho did not disappoint!
And the best part? The generosity of Urban Grub knew no bounds. For just $20, we were served a portion so hearty that it was enough for two satisfying meals each. It was an incredible value for an unforgettable culinary experience.
This wasn't just a meal; it was a sharing of culture, a celebration of tradition, and a testament to the hospitality that Urban Grub Aruba offers. We extend our sincerest thanks to the owner and the staff for introducing us to enjoy the Paisa tradition delightful Sancocho and for making our Christmas in Aruba truly special.
A big shout-out to Urban Grub Aruba for not just serving food but for sharing your tradition and joy. If you're ever in Aruba, looking for a taste of Colombia or simply a place that feels like home, you know where to go. Urban Grub, you've made our Christmas memorable, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
Love,
Kirsten and Mack
